Cú Dhub, The Black Blended Malt / 43% / 0.7l
- The Cú Dhub brand was created by Speyside Distillery for Danish distributor Mac Y Group in 2008.
Product description
Cú Dhub whisky debuted in 2008, blended by Speyside Distillery for the Danish alcoholic beverage importer Mac Y Group.
Originally a 5 year old Speyside single malt aged in refill casks, it was then sent to Denmark to be transformed into a ‘black whisky’ (a large amount of caramel was added). The name Cú Dhub (Gaelic for ‘black dog’) refers to a local legend of a witch from Laggan who flees from beasts through Gaick Forest after being possessed by evil forces and killing many righteous people. The current release of Cú Dhub is a blended malt Scotch whisky, the formula of which is unfortunately unknown.
Aroma: freshly roasted coffee beans, barley malt, caramel, burnt oak, licorice, notes of tobacco and dried herbs.
Palate: caramel, vanilla, sugar syrup, licorice, charred oak, cocoa powder and a pinch of cinnamon.
Finish: medium long, with notes of caramel, strong black coffee, licorice, a touch of sherry and charred oak.
