Product description
The partnership between Bowmore Distillery and Aston Martin Lagonda Holdings began in 2019.
Its first fruit was Black Bowmore DB5 1964 released in 2020 in a run of just 27 bottles, a year later we received whisky ranging from 10 to 21 years old. The Bowmore 21 years old presented here is inspired by the mathematical rule of the golden ratio also used by Aston Martin designers (perfection of form and function). Ron Welsh, Bowmore's master blender, translated this rule into whisky - its base is 21-year-old Bowmore aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks (61.8% blend), while the remaining percentages include whisky aged for up to 35 years in bourbon, Pineau de Charentes, white port and second-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead casks. The edition consisted of 12,000 bottles.
Nose: sweet and nutty with notes of Manuka honey, maple syrup with pralines and grilled hazelnuts combined with the scent of freshly tanned leather, cigar, licorice root, dried thyme and blooming heather.
Taste: a combination of elegant sherry with raw Islay peat, dark chocolate, black pepper, toffee syrup with vanilla and coffee beans, seasoned with the fruity sweetness of cherries and papaya.
Finish: sweet, spicy and warming, with notes of oak bitterness, chestnut cream and coconut.
