Product description
Oxley Gin was launched in 2009 and was the first gin produced using the cold (vacuum) distillation method.
The Oxley brand is owned by Bacardi and is produced at the Thames Distillery in London. It took eight years and 38 different recipes to arrive with the final one. After being macerated with the base spirit for 15 hours the 14 botanical ingredients – juniper, grapefruits, lemons, oranges, meadowsweet, vanilla, aniseed, orris root, licorice root, cocoa, grains of paradise, cassia bark, nutmeg and coriander – are placed in a vacuum still at such low pressure that they distill at sub-freezing temperature (-5ºC). Distillation in such low temperature protects the botanicals from being harmed from the hot temperature if they underwent traditional distillation process. No heads and tails are part of cold distillation. Oxley is produced in small batches; the distillery usually runs five distillations per week producing an average 600-700 bottles in the process.
Oxley is a very elegant gin with classic flavor profile – juniper, citrus and floral notes have the lead with mixed spices balanced to some extent with vanilla sweetness playing strong supporting role. Oxley makes perfect Martini and equally perfect gin & tonic.
