Product description
The history of the Père Labat brand dates back to the 18th century, when Madame Poisson became the owner of an estate located on the island of Marie-Galante, south of Guadeloupe.
At that time, there was a sugar cane plantation and a small sugar mill there. At the beginning of the 20th century, the estate was taken over by a certain Rameau, who invested in an alembic and a copper column of the Creole type. The new owner decided to honor the memory of the pioneer of distilling wine from sugar cane, the monk Labat, in the name of his rums. And so, the rums produced at the Poisson distillery were named Père Labat.
Père Labat Clos Parcellaire Les Mangles Rhum Blanc is a white, unaged agricole rum made from fresh sugar cane juice. In search of the influence of terroir on the taste of the rum, the cane was harvested from a single plot called Les Mangles. The cane was harvested by hand.
