Product description
Glenfiddich Distillery is located in Dufftown, the capital of Scotch whisky. It was built in 1886 by William Grant, who equipped it with second-hand distilling equipment purchased from Cardhu Distillery for £119.19s.
The distillery has been a powerhouse in single malt whisky production for years; after its latest expansion in 2020, it now has 43 stills capable of producing 21 million litres of whisky per year. Glenfiddich was the first single malt available outside Scotland (1963) and the first to reach the million-case mark (2011). In the 1970s and 1980s, Glenfiddich Pure Malt (a single malt by today’s standards) was released in the US and Asia as a 10-year-old (8-year-old was the standard in Europe). The whisky presented here comes from that period, bottled for a Japanese importer.
