Product description
Nagahama Distillery, one of Japan's smaller distilleries, was established in 2016 on the premises of the Nagahama Roman Brewery (in operation since 1996) located in Shiga Prefecture.
The facility is equipped with three tiny Portuguese Hoga stills, usually used for distilling calvados. In late fall 2018, Nagahama began releasing the Amahagan World Malt series (the whisky name is the distillery name spelled backwards), which is made from imported single malts with a small amount of its own whisky. The blending and finishing process takes place at the Nagahama distillery under the watchful eye of the local blending master Takashi Kiyoi. We don’t know much about the formula for the first edition of the series, other than that the components were aged primarily in bourbon barrels.
