- Brandy Lepanto is produced in Jerez at bodega González Byass.
Product description
Lepanto brandy is produced in Jerez at the González Byass bodega.
The company was founded in 1835 by Manuel Maria González Angel, who was soon joined by his British sales agent Robert Blake Byass. The Byass family sold their shares in the company to the González family in 1998, making it the sole owner. González Byass has been produced in the heart of Jerez since 1844 from locally grown Palomino grapes. Distilled in traditional pot stills, it matures in the solera system in American oak barrels previously used for sherry. Aurum is the undisputed jewel in Lepanto’s crown. Distilled from the Palomino grape, it spent over three decades in six barrels that had previously held Oloroso sherry, with the distillate coming exclusively from the middle (heart) distillation.
Nose: rich and elegant, roasted nuts and almonds, raisins, dried figs, plums, dark chocolate, coffee beans, pipe tobacco, fragrant incense, sherry and oak.
Palate: raisins, dried plums, bitter orange jam, caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, buckwheat honey, almonds, notes of leather, tobacco and oak.
Finish: long, with notes of dark dried fruit, chocolate, tobacco, leather, nutmeg and oak.
