Product description
Osmoz Gin debuted in 2015 in the offering of Château de Montifaud, a cognac producer.
The company is currently run by Laurent and Elodie Vallet, the sixth generation of the founding family. Augustin Vallett became the owner of the vineyard in 1837, which is also the date when Château de Montifaud was founded. Over the years, the original 3-hectare vineyard has grown to an area of around 130 hectares. The Valletts came up with the idea of producing gin during a trip to Germany, and their idea was a gin with a palette similar to the family's cognacs with notes of juniper in the background. The base of Osmoz Classic gin is grape spirit, and its formula lists nine botanical ingredients: juniper berries, citrus peel, cloves, coriander, cucumbers, lime leaves, nutmeg, oranges and saffron. The gin is distilled in a traditional copper still. After the great success of Osmoz Classic and Osmoz Citrus gins, the Vallettes came up with finished editions. The batch presented here, No. 12-2021, was finished in barrels of their own Pineau des Charentes.
Osmoz Pineau des Charentes Finish offers aromas of juniper, grapes, apples, oak and a hint of orange peel. On the palate, a combination of juniper, vanilla, toffee, toasted almonds and citrus. This unique gin fully deserves to be served neat or with ice.
