Product description
Bayab is one of a handful of African gins available in Europe, created by bar owner Chris Frederick and marketing expert Damola Timeyin (who met while studying at Leeds University).
The gin is produced at the Midlands Distillery in South Africa, and its formula contains botanicals sourced exclusively from the Black Continent. The key element in it is the baobab fruit from Ghana. The baobab, also known as the "tree of life", is an icon of Africa and one of the most unique trees on Earth. It grows on African savannas in over 30 countries, its height reaches 30m, and its age reaches up to 5 thousand years. The gin formula also lists juniper berries, coriander, rosemary, cinnamon, sea salt, lemon and orange peel. The formula of the limited edition presented here also includes burnt orange peel. The components are subjected to maceration lasting up to 14 days, and distillation takes place in a copper still. The name "Bayab" comes from the word "Bayabonga", which in the Zulu language means "showing gratitude".
Bayab Burnt Orange Gin combines aromas of zesty orange, juniper, cinnamon and a subtle herbal note. In taste orange, orange peel, juniper, coriander and a pinch of salt. We recommend serving with a delicate premium tonic and a slice of orange or just with a cube of ice.
