Product description
Ukiyo Yuzu Gin is produced in Kagoshima, at the foot of the Sakurajima volcano, by Ukiyo Spirits (the "Ukiyo brand" also includes rice vodka).
The term “Ukiyo” describes a person’s attitude of enjoying the moment, detached from the difficulties of everyday life. The base of the gin is shochu distilled from barley and rice, while the main botanicals are juniper berries, coriander seeds and regional citrus, tangerine peel and a few others that the company does not disclose. In the case of Ukiyo Yuzu, the shochu is re-distilled with juniper berries, tangerine peel and local botanicals, and then yuzu, an aromatic, wrinkled citrus fruit used extensively in Japanese cuisine, is added.
Ukiyo Yuzu Gin is a drink with an extraordinary aromatic and flavor bouquet, in which juniper notes intertwine with oranges, mandarins, grapefruits and lemons. The whole is complemented by subtle notes of green tea and lavender. In our opinion, this gin deserves to be served only with an ice cube, another option is Fever Tree Indian Tonic with the addition of pink grapefruit or blood orange.
