Product description
The Macallan is currently the third best selling single malt (just under one million cases a year), behind only Glenlivet and Glenfiddich.
Not everyone remembers that in the 1970s, the future of the distillery did not look rosy. The Macallan was one of the main components of the Chivas Regal blend and Seagram, the owner of the brand, replaced it with Strathisla. The distillery owners decided to promote their whisky in a single malt version using marketing maturation in sherry casks. The first batch hit the market in 1980 and since then, The Macallan's popularity has been growing steadily. The 10-year-old Cask Strength version was offered from the 1990s to the beginning of the new century. The whisky came exclusively from Oloroso sherry casks.
