Product description
Charanda is a Protected Designation of Origin (Denominación de origen) spirit made from sugar cane in the state of Michoacán in western central Mexico.
Casa Tarasco is a distillery of this spirit, a type of rum, founded in 1907 and still run by the Pacheco family. The distillery has both stills and a short French-type rectification column. The Uruapan brand is a tribute to the town of the same name, with which the Pacheco family is associated. The rum is produced using sugar cane of the Saccharum officinarum variety, grown in volcanic soil at an altitude of almost 1,300 meters above sea level.
Uruapan Charanda Blanco is a blend of two types - 50% rum based on fresh sugar cane juice, distilled twice in a pot still, and 50% rum based on molasses, distilled in a column still. The rum was not subjected to the maturation process, bottled shortly after the distillation process was completed. Limited edition to 1500 individually numbered bottles.
