Product description
In 1588 Bonaventure Godet, a Dutch merchant established a salt and wine business in the harbor of La Rochelle.
He was among the first to distill his wines to reduce transportation costs, and soon received the right to produce ‘Brandwine’ from Henry IV. As the business grew, the family refined the production process, and Gédéon Louis Godet officially registered Godet Freres Cognac in 1782. In the 21st Century, Cognac Godet remains in hands of the founding family and is produced by the 14th and 15th generation of its members in the original location. Godet Gastronome was originally created by Augustin Godet in 1838 exclusively for his business launches. Its organic, contemporary version was distilled in 2004 from organically grown grapes in Fins Bois cru and re-introduced in 2016. It scored Bronze at the 2020 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
