Product description
Kanosuke Distillery is located in Hioki, Kagoshima Prefecture.
The plant is owned by Komasa Jozo, a company whose history dates back to the late 19th century. Komasa Jozo is one of the leading producers of shochu and a pioneer in the field of maturing the spirit – its Mellowed Kozuru, the first shochu matured in oak barrels, hit the market in 1957. The whisky-making equipment was installed in 2017; the distillery is equipped with three stills (different sizes and shapes) and can produce around 200,000 spirits a year. The Kanosuke New Born presented here was distilled from malted barley imported from the UK and aged for 12 months in re-charred American oak barrels previously used for maturing shochu.
