Beinn Dubh Flying Scotsman Ruby Black / 43% / 0.7l
- The Beinn Dubh brand was launched by the Speyside Distillery in 2015 to mark Thunder in the Glens event (Europe biggest Harley Davidson motorcycle rally).
Product description
The debut of the Beinn Dubh single malt in 2015 coincided with Thunder in the Glens, Europe’s largest Harley Davidson motorcycle gathering.
A year later, Speyside Distillery offered another edition of this whisky, this time released in cooperation with the Royal Railway Museum. This limited edition (10,000 bottles) was dedicated to the Flying Scotsman locomotive, which returned to the museum after a long renovation. Flying Scotsman was the first steam locomotive to exceed the speed limit of 100 miles per hour (in 1934 on the London-Leeds route). The whisky used in this edition, after the basic maturation, finished in re-toasted port barrels.
Nose: ripe red berries, chocolate malt, roasted walnuts, burnt toast, burnt sugar, coffee beans and a dash of soy sauce.
Palate: black coffee, caramel, roasted nuts and almonds, dark chocolate, cherries, plums, blackberries, vanilla, a touch of black pepper and oak tannins.
Finish: medium long, with notes of mixed berries, caramel, toffee, cocoa powder and oak.
