Product description
Tomintoul Cigar Malt debuted at the end of 2020. Its creator, Robert Flemming, was celebrating his 30th anniversary as Tomintoul’s master distiller.
Flemming personally selected casks from different vintages for this release, then blended them with his own smoky-peated distillate. The selected whiskies were either fully matured in Oloroso sherry casks or finished in them. As we read on the label, Tomintoul Cigar Malt is described as “Parejo” (Spanish for “partner”), as the creator intended to create a whisky that would be the perfect “partner” to a high-end cigar. The whisky is bottled at 43% abv and, as the creator says, “offers a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, enhanced with a subtle smoky note.”
Nose : pronounced sherry notes, raisins, dried figs and dates, candied orange peel, maple syrup, cocoa, walnuts, cinnamon and peat smoke in the background.
Palate : rich, slightly smoky, dark chocolate, raisins, toffee, honey, blackberries, black cherries, allspice, black pepper and sherry-soaked oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sweet dried fruit, dark chocolate, maple syrup, a pinch of spices and a light smoke in the background.
