Product description
The Mhoba Rum Distillery is located in the Mpumalanga province in eastern South Africa.
It is a small craft distillery that produces 10 different types of rum. Founded in 2015 by Robert Greaves, whose family had been involved in sugar cane cultivation in this part of the African continent since the 1980s. The inspiration to produce rum came during a holiday in Mauritius. For this reason, Mhoba produces agricole rum, as in the former French colony. Mhoba prides itself on the fact that no colourings, flavourings or sugar are added to the rum produced there, and the aroma and taste of the drink are the result of the skills of the person involved in its production and the influence of the barrels used to mature it.
Mhoba Bushfire is a spirit made from Nkomasi sugar cane juice, subjected to a long fermentation process, and after the distillation process, subjected to a 12-month maturation in glass containers into which burned chips of a tree called Chinese lantern (Dichrostachys cinerea), growing in this part of Africa, are thrown.
Aroma : Smoke, burnt wood, smoked meat, olives, ripe fruit, BBQ sauce.
Palate: Charcoal, spicy grilled meat, chorizo, roots.
Finish : Medium long, spicy.
