Product description
The Pearls of Scotland is a range of whiskies from the portfolio of Gordon & Co. (Distillers), a family company based on the outskirts of Glasgow.
The company was founded in 2012 by Jim Gordon, a man with over 30 years of experience in the whisky trade. The Glen Garioch presented here was distilled in October 1994 and aged for over two decades in cask no. 1, then bottled at 61.1% abv in February 2016 in an edition of 237 bottles. Glen Garioch has been producing whisky since 1797 and is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland still in operation. Until the early 1930s it used the name ‘Glengarioch’ (Garioch is a strip of fertile land where the highest quality barley is grown).
Nose: damp chalk and autumn leaves, breakfast cereals, vanilla, honey-roasted almonds, grapefruit, mirabelle jam, fresh herbs and oak.
Palate: lemon and orange peel, green apples, lemongrass, a pinch of anise, milk chocolate, vanilla, buttered toast and a light oak bitterness.
Finish: quite long, malty and grassy, with notes of honeyed breakfast cereal, summer fruits, a touch of vanilla and oak.
