Product description
The Cartavio rum line is produced in Trujillo, Peru, by Destillerias Unidas S.A.C. using locally produced molasses since 1929.
The company uses a combination of a continuous column and copper pot stills to distil their rums. Cartavio 8 is created using a “Solera method” using rums between four and ten years old. They aged their rums using a combination of used American and European Oak barrels, finally diluting their rum to 40% before bottling. When creating the product the cellar master uses three different kinds of barrels from France, Slovenia, and the United States to help create this interesting blend of flavours. The rum holds a dark amber colour in the bottle and glass. Its bouquet offers notes of sweet caramel, coffee, cocoa, cooked bananas and toasted almonds.
