The Icons of Arran is a series of four limited edition 12 year old Arran single malts by distillery manager James MacTaggart.
Each of them is dedicated to unique elements that make Aran Distillery unique. The series debuted in 2009 with the Arran Peacock edition and immediately caught the attention of collectors. The next ones hit the market in 2010 (The Rowan Tree) and 2011 (The Westie). The Golden Eagle, which closes the series, was released in 2012 and immortalizes the golden eagle, often circling over the distillery buildings. It is a blend of 14 bourbon barrels and 7 hogshead sherry barrels filled in 1999. Each edition of "The Icons of Arran" consisted of 6,000 bottles and with each passing year its availability is becoming more and more limited.
Aroma: malty and fruity, apples, oranges, pineapples, vanilla, caramel, toffee, chocolate biscuits, roasted nuts, notes of cinnamon and anise.
Palate : buttered toast, honey, vanilla, apples, apricots, oranges, papaya, sugared nuts, notes of sherry, milk chocolate and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, licorice and oak.
