The company very quickly began exporting, then producing its own port, sold under the Offley brand. The moment when the company began to focus on quality and gain recognition and appreciation was the entry of Joseph Forrester, a man full of charisma, who played a huge role in the development of the Offley brand itself, as well as the entire wine industry in the 19th century.
Forrester, created a baron by the King of Portugal, was a respected businessman, oenologist, artist and author of the first map of the Douro region. He left behind a huge artistic, photographic and cartographic legacy, considered today the most important in the history of the Douro. Today, the company is owned by Sogrape, and continues to release wines of above-average quality.
