Old Pulteney 25 years old debuted in 2017, and two years later was permanently included in the core range.
The 2019 edition presented here is a blend of distillates aged in second-fill bourbon casks and first-fill sherry butts. In the same year, the whisky won a double gold medal (unanimous verdict of the judges) at the World Spirit Competition in San Francisco. Old Pulteney is the number one single malt in the Inver House Distillers portfolio (owner since 1995) with annual sales exceeding 550,000 bottles per year, placing it in the top twenty most popular single malts.
Nose: beautifully balanced, nectarines, blood oranges, honeydew melon, vanilla, toffee, cocoa powder, notes of potpourri and wax, a pinch of salt and oak.
Taste: fruity with a delicate spiciness, peaches, pink grapefruits, oranges, vanilla, milk chocolate, toffee, ginger, black pepper, mint leaf, salted nuts and a subtle bitterness of oak.
Finish : long, fruity with a light nutty note, citrus, vanilla, pepper, milk chocolate, allspice, oak and a hint of sea breeze.
