Product description
The company was founded in 1730 in London by Henry Burmester and John Nash. Initially involved in the grain trade. Then in 1750 they moved to Vila Nova de Gaia and began exporting port to Great Britain and Europe. Over the years the company has developed, having good and bad moments, largely dictated by the geopolitical situation and ongoing wars, although its philosophy has remained unchanged to this day. It has also remained in the hands of one family all this time, thanks to which knowledge and experience are passed down from generation to generation, resulting in products of the highest quality, gaining recognition all over the world.
In 1992, the company also began producing wines under the DOC Douro appellation, which quickly gained acceptance around the world like port. Burmester places great emphasis on the unique character of its wines, thanks to which it offers characteristic products that are suitable for every occasion – private and professional.
The grapes used for production were hand-picked, then destemmed, gently pressed and carefully macerated to bring out their best qualities. Fermented at a temperature of 28-20 degrees, also strictly controlled. After fortifying the wine with brandy, it matures in stainless steel tanks and barrels for at least 3 years. It has a lively, golden-brown color, on the nose it is very rich and aromatic, full of notes of ripe fruit with accents of vanilla. On the palate very fresh and expressive, although elegant, clearly fruity. The finish is long and fresh, with a velvety aftertaste of fruit.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 14-16 degrees. It works perfectly in combination with desserts based on chocolate, caramel and dried fruit. It also goes very well with creamy cheeses.
