Product description
The small Caribbean island of Trinidad once boasted as many as 50 rum distilleries. The Caroni distillery was founded in 1918 on the site of an old sugar mill.
The distillery used both traditional stills and column stills, and the rum produced there was heavy, just right for supplying the British Navy. In 2001, the distillery was sold to Angostura, and closed for good the following year. Caroni rum was given a second life by Luca Gargano's visit to Trinidad in 2004, when he discovered a forgotten warehouse of barrel-aged rum.
Caroni The Last is a blend of 24 barrels aged in American bourbon oak barrels for 23 years in both Guyana and Trinidad. Bottled without any intervention – no additives, no coloring, no chill filtering, no dilution. Named The Last because it is the end of a treasure from Trinidad found and saved by Luca Gargano.
