Product description
While much has changed since the founder Don Andrés Brugal came to the Dominican Republic in 1888, the Brugal family still makes their rum the same way.
From plantation to bottle, every drop is distilled, filtered and barreled by the family, creating a distinctly different, fresh, dry rum. Today’s Roneros Maesters or Master Blenders are the 4th and 5th generation of the Brugal family. They have been perfecting the molasses used to make their rums for 125 years, so they know it intimately. All rums are double distilled, in the town of San Pedro de Macorix. The rums mature in a variety of oak barrels, carefully selected by the cellarer. As the rum matures, it absorbs the colors and aromas of the barrels.
Brugal Leyenda is a blend of distillates that have matured for a total of 10 years in oak – first in American bourbon barrels and then in European sherry oak barrels.
