Product description
The history of Diplomático began in Venezuela in 1959, with the establishment of the distillery where all its rums are produced.
At the time, Licorerías Unidas SA (LUSA) owned the distillery and Seagrams was the main shareholder. In 2002, LUSA was put up for sale. Local investors decided to take their chance and bid for it. That same year, LUSA became 100% privately owned and adopted its current name: Destilerías Unidas SA (DUSA). The company is one of the largest rum producers in Venezuela. Diplomático rums are made from sugar cane molasses and sugar cane honey. The molasses is used to make light rums and the sugar cane honey is used to make more complex rums.
Diplomático Ambassador is a spirit that is meant to commemorate the 18th century distiller Don Juancho Nieto Meléndez, also known as El Ambassador. In addition, the last 2 years of maturation this spirit spent in Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels.
In its aroma we will find fruit accents (apples, bananas), nuts, cocoa, notes of sherry, flowers and spices. On the palate - a rich, fruity taste, filled with accents of dried apricots, dates, milk chocolate, hazelnuts and tobacco leaves. A bit of honey and allspice.
