Although only established in 2002, Teerenpeli Distillery is the oldest Finnish whisky producer.
It is owned by a company with several restaurants scattered around the country and a brewery, and the distillery itself is located in a restaurant building in the city of Lahti. The original equipment included a pair of small stills capable of distilling about 30,000 liters of alcohol per year, in October 2015 three more stills were installed, increasing the distillation capacity more than fourfold. Karhi debuted in 2015 as part of the Distiller's Choice series and features whisky aged for 5 to 7 years in bourbon barrels and finished for a further 12 months in Madeira barrels.
