Product description
Strathspey is a discontinued brand of vatted malt whisky (blended malt by today's standards) from the portfolio of D. Cameron & Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of IDV (International Distillers and Vintners).
In 1972, IDV merged with Grand Metropolitan, which, after being acquired by Guinness in 1998, gave rise to Diageo, currently the largest producer of alcoholic beverages in the world. Strathspey whisky debuted in the 1970s, composed mainly of malts from distilleries belonging to IDV, i.e. Auchroisk, Knockando, Strathmill and Glen Spey (we do not know if these were its only components). The label bears the name "Highland Malt Whisky" and although the aforementioned distilleries are based in Speyside, the latter was not a separate production district in the 1970s, but only a district, part of the Highlands.
