The Château du Breuil estate, founded in the 15th century, is located on the Pays d'Auge plain, famous for its cool climate. The climate is conducive to the growth of apples with an exceptionally rich flavor.
The first mentions of alcohol production on the estate date back to the 16th century. When Philippe Bizouard purchased the estate in 1954, he decided to modernize production. According to the producer, the time from the moment of obtaining the juice from the apples to the beginning of its fermentation is crucial to the production of Calvados of the highest quality. To obtain a liter of alcohol, the producer uses about 25 kilograms of apples. The production potential is estimated at 400 thousand liters per year. Pommeau de Normandie, literally apples from Normandy. It is a blend of juice from excellent Normandy apples and Calvados from the equally famous Château Du Breuil. In recent years, there has been a growing demand for products with a lower alcohol content, while maintaining the classic character of well-known drinks. The product was aged for at least 16 months in French oak barrels.
