Product description
The De Vescovi family has been cultivating vines in Campo Rotaliano (Trentino) for over 300 years. The microclimate and stony soil are conducive to the cultivation of the Teroldego grape variety, and the De Vescovi vineyards are located around the Noce River, commonly known as Ulzbach (which translates to Chestnut Stream). At the beginning of the new century, Giulio De Vescovi, a graduate of the Department of Oenology and Viticulture at the famous Istituto Agrario San Michele All'Adige, took over the family business. In addition to cultivating vines, Giulio also created his own wine, which debuted in 2005. In the past, the De Vescovi family produced their own wine, but after World War II they focused exclusively on growing and selling grapes to a local cooperative. Today, the family vineyards cover an area of seven hectares and are entirely planted with the Teroldego grape variety.
De Vescovi Ulzbach Vigilius recalls Vigilio de Vescovi, a theologian who worked for the Duke of Trento in the second half of the 17th century and moved the family seat from Vermeglio to Mezzocorona. This wine is produced entirely from the Teroldego grape and aged for 12-18 months in French oak barrels and another 8-10 months in the bottle.
It has a dark ruby color and an intense bouquet: cherries, dried plums, figs, notes of allspice and pepper, as well as tobacco and oak tannins. It tastes great as an addition to lamb, game and beef dishes served at a temperature of 16-18ºC.
