Product description
The Zacapa brand was founded in 1976 by the Botran family. The Zacapa distillery is located in the town of Tulula in Guatemala, on the Quetzaltenango highlands, at an altitude of 2,330 meters above sea level.
Zacapa rum matures there in warehouses. The altitude and lower temperatures allow for slower and more careful maturation. The rum produced in “La casa por encima de las Nubes” (The House Above the Clouds) is not made from molasses, but from concentrated first-pressed cane juice, sometimes called cane honey. During fermentation, a strain of yeast obtained from pineapples is used, which helps to obtain the characteristic set of aromas of Zacapa rum. Zapacapa rums are traditionally matured in the solera system, in barrels made of fresh American oak, bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry barrels.
Ron Zacapa Centenario Ambar is an edition prepared especially for the travel retail market. A blend of distillates aged in oak barrels in the solera system between 4 and 12 years.
