Product description
Strathisla Distillery, whose owner went bankrupt in 1949 due to tax evasion, was sold at auction a year later for £71,000.
The lucky buyer was Chivas Bros, then controlled by Seagram. Strathisla was immediately incorporated into the Chivas Regal formula, where it remains a key player to this day. Strathisla single malt was never high on Chivas Bros’ agenda, although Gordon & MacPhail has offered it for years in its Distillery Labels range. The mid-1980s 8-year-old edition presented here was bottled at 100 British Proof (57% abv) for Italian importer Pinerolo. At the time, G&M offered a full range of Strathisla in vintage and age-appropriate versions.
