Product description
Lepanto brandy is produced in Jerez at the González Byass bodega.
The company was founded in 1835 by Manuel Maria González Angel, who was soon joined by his British sales agent Robert Blake Byass. The Byass family sold their shares in the company to the González family in 1998, making it the sole owner. González Byass has been produced in the heart of Jerez since 1844 from locally grown Palomino grapes. Distilled in traditional pot stills, it matures in the solera system in American oak barrels previously used for sherry. The Lepanto Gran Reserva presented here, after 12 years of solera maturation, was finished for a further three years in Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels.
Nose: sultanas, dried apricots and figs, orange peel, plums, brown sugar, walnuts, cappuccino, a touch of nutmeg and a trace of pipe tobacco.
Palate: chocolate-coated raisins, candied orange peel, banana cake, vanilla, marzipan, dried figs and dates, honeyed almonds, notes of leather and oak.
Finish: medium long, sweet, with notes of raisins, sugared nuts and almonds, vanilla, fruit candy, chocolate and oak.
