Product description
Tun 1509, introduced in September 2014, was a follow-up (or a successor) to the outstanding Tun 1401 series.
While the latter was released in rather small quantities (Tun 1401 has capacity of 2000 liters) the “marrying vat” 1509 can hold 8000 liters, meaning bigger batches and consequently the greater number of bottles. The second batch consists of 32 casks: 23 American oak hogsheads and barrels, 7 European oak sherry butts and 2 sherry hogsheads. Released in late August 2015 with an outrun of 8500 bottles.
Nose: nicely balanced, vanilla, honey, orange zest, lemons, raisins, ginger, nutmeg, milk chocolate and delicate oaky notes.
Palate: sweet and spicy, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, lemon pepper and ginger, raisins, oranges, apricots, pine nuts and very little oak.
Finish: long, spicy and oaky with sweet toffee and vanilla notes.
