Connoisseurs Choice is an old whisky label from Gordon & MacPhail’s portfolio. It was introduced in the mid 1960s when the majority of Scottish malt distilleries supplied their whiskies for blending industry without even taking effort to market them as single malts. Toady, over half a Century later, Connoisseurs Choice is still part of Gordon & MacPhail’s range and successfully competes with dozens of whisky labels. The 1989 Rosebank bottled in 2000 contains whisky aged in refill ex-sherry hogsheads and white American oak barrels.
Nose: smooth, malty and grassy, apples, grapefruits, dried rose petals, honey, hints of oak and mountain herbs.
Palate: soft, apples, pears, lemon grass, vanilla, walnuts, dash of pepper and delicate herbal and oaky notes.
Finish: medium long, lemon peel, walnuts, touch of honey and delicate oaky dryness.
