Woodford Reserve
Kentucky Straight Whiskey

For the first few years, Woodford Reserve was a small batch version of the Old Forester whiskey produced at sister company Early Times Distillery, with the product of the Woodford Reserve distillery being increasingly blended over time.
These whiskies share a mash formula - 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, but while Old Forester is distilled in a column, Woodford Reserve is the result of triple distillation in copper alembics.
Aroma:
vanilla, honey, caramel, cocoa powder, dried plums, notes of tobacco and leather,
mint leaf and charred oak.
Taste:
quite spicy, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, roasted almonds,
dark chocolate, notes of leather, tobacco and oak.
Finish:
medium long, with notes of pepper, allspice.
Woodford Reserve
Double Oaked
700 ml | 43.2%
Standard Woodford is a blend of whiskey distilled in the distillation column at Old Forester Distillery from sourced Woodford Reserve copper alembics, aged in barrels with heavily fired interiors. Double Oaked is additionally subjected to a finishing maturation (from 9 to 12 months) in double-roasted and lightly fired barrels. Additional months spent in such prepared barrels means increased extraction of sweet substances contained in the oak.
Aroma:
a lot of vanilla, caramel and toffee, some honey and marzipan, baked apples, oranges, tobacco, mint leaf and strong notes of roasted oak.
Taste:
caramel, toffee, honey, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, hazelnuts, raisins, pepper, trace of leather and oak bitterness in the background.
Finish:
long, with notes of toffee, honey, vanilla, a pinch of pepper and quite strong oak notes.

Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

Kentucky Reserve Straight Rye is a whisky with a formula containing 53% rye, 33% corn and 14% malted barley. The relatively high corn content means that the sweet notes dominate the spiciness that usually characterizes rye whiskey.
Kentucky Straight Rye, like the standard Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select, is a blend of distilled whiskey
in the distillation column at Old Forester Distillery
with alembic-derived Woodford Reserve distillate.
Aroma:
pleasantly balanced, caramel, milky fudge, apples, pears, cinnamon, ginger, a slice of toasted rye bread and some oak.
Taste:
sweet for a rye whiskey, vanilla, honey, caramel, baked apples, cherries, some pepper, ginger and cinnamon and a slight bitterness from oak.
Finish:
mild, though quite long; spicy rye notes balanced by the sweetness of vanilla and caramel.
