Wild Turkey is one of the most popular bourbon brands in the US. It has been on the market since 1940. It is distilled at the Austin Nichols distillery, located in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

In 1940, Thomas McCarthy, a distillery employee, took some whiskey samples on a wild turkey hunt. During the next hunt, Thomas' colleagues asked him to take some samples of "that wild turkey" with him, and so the Wild Turkey brand was born. Version 101 is a composition of 6, 7 and 8 year old distillates aged in white American oak barrels. It is bottled at 101proof, or 50.5% strength.
