The Glenlivet Spectra / 40%

Spectra, another mysterious Glenlivet, hits the market in spring 2020 and honors the tradition set by the Alpha, Cipher and Code editions.

A statement from the distillery reads: "Glenlivet Spectra is an invitation to discover the full spectrum of aromatic and flavor elements of our whisky. Each of the three bottles contains an important element/component of its final palette and we encourage everyone to discover them. To heat up the excitement, we do not include any information on the age of the whisky, the type of barrels used for maturation or our comments." Scanning the QR code will take us to a website where we will get some information, but not the full solution to the contest. The set consists of three 200ml bottles and is presented in an elegant box with three compartments. Here are our notes:

SPECTRA #1

It has a fruity and floral character, a bouquet of field flowers, autumn leaves, ripe apples, pears and peaches, delicate notes of vanilla and caramel.

SPECTRA #2

It offers the sweetness of tropical fruits, but also shows a slightly lesser-known side of Glenlivet, a sea breeze, a barbecue feast, barbecue sauce and a whiff of peat smoke.

SPECTRA #3

This is a rich, creamy whisky, with Glenlivet's signature fruity notes, subtle spiciness and a trace of over-carbonated oak.
