In 2020, The Glenlivet Distillery, Scotland's first officially registered distillery (1824) began issuing "The Original Stories" series consisting of limited annual editions illustrating the colorful history of the distillery and its founder George Smith. The herald of the series was Illicit Still 12 years old bottled without cold filtration with alcohol content raised to 48%. A year later, in September, the 12-year-old Licensed Dram was also released, this time compiled from distillates aged in first-fill American and European oak barrels and bottled, like its predecessor at 48% abv.

Aroma

fruity-floral, apple blossom, pears, peaches, tangerines, honey, vanilla, marzipan, hazelnuts, licorice, candied ginger and oak.

TASTE

vanilla cream, honey, sweet cereal, cappuccino, sugared nuts, pears, apples, orange peel, white pepper, ginger and a trace of cloves.

FINISH

quite long, with notes of honey, vanilla, marzipan, baked apples, cinnamon, cloves and oak.
