In June 2021, with the Balvenie 25 years old edition, the distillery launched the "Rare Marriages" series, a luxury whisky line for distribution in Travel Retail (30 years old and 40 years old versions are expected to follow soon). "Rare Marriages" is another initiative of David Stewart, the company's legendary malt master with 60 years of experience (David began his apprenticeship at Wm Grant & Sons in 1962 and was appointed malt master in 1974). Balvenie 25 years old is a blend of distillates aged in European and American oak casks, subjected to a post-maturation marriage in a special vat. The whisky is bottled with natural color and without cold filtration at 48% abv. (Official tasting note.)
AROMAT
Smooth, lots of honey and soothing oak notes complemented by the sweetness of candied orange peel.
TASTE
To begin with, the intense flavor of vanilla and oak, followed by fire-roasted "marshmallows" and jelly with fresh fruit and apple tart dusted with cinnamon.
FINISH
Infinitely long-lasting sweetness.

In The Balvenie 30YO, our master maltster David C. Stewart MBE blends together the American oak casks traditionally used in Scotland and casks left over from European fortified wines, in which the whisky was later matured for decades. This created a liquid with incredible sweetness and complexity.
The silky sweetness of The Balvenie 30YO is exultantly combined with rich honey aromas, mellow oak tones and notes of candied orange peel.
Aroma
Smooth and honeyed in the nose with velvety, oaky tones and a hint of candied orange peel.
Taste
Wonderful depth of dark chocolate, with notes of plum, marzipan and caramelized pear.
Finish
Exceptionally smooth and warming with delicate spices and lingering sweetness.

The Balvenie Rare Marriages is a luxury collection of three single malts that showcase the extraordinary depth and complexity of this whisky.
Its author is the legendary Balvenie malt master, David Stewart, who used 25-year-old, 30-year-old and 40-year-old whiskeys. In his creation, the master selected "casks that have stood the important test of time, and the Balvenie whisky aged in them reveals a full range of aromas and flavors that pierce the high standards of this distillery.". The oldest edition in the list, the 40 Years Old is a couplet of two barrels, one American oak and the other European oak, the contents of which were marred in an oak vat. Only 150 bottles went on sale. (Tasting note by Master Stewart.)
Aroma

TASTE
orange blossoms, candied ginger and honey sweetness, followed by oak and mouth-filling vanilla sweetness and delicately fruity sherry notes.
FINISH
elegant and warming, with the sweetness of honey and the richness of citrus.
