This is a triple (blended) malt, without the baggage of tradition and excessive stiffness. Its rich flavor and aroma can be enjoyed with the addition of water or ice. However, we encourage you to break ossified conventions and enjoy its subtle flavor in cocktails. It has a rich but balanced flavor. The subtle vanilla aroma makes Monkey Shoulder the perfect cocktail item.
The liquor's name comes from the time when workers in distilleries often acquired injuries. The hard physical labor caused them to dislocate their shoulders. The dislocated shoulders looked like chimpanzee arms, so these injuries came to be known as Monkey Shoulder. To honor the hard work of the workers at the distillery, the beverage is called Monkey Shoulder.
Aroma
malty and fruity, apples, pears, pineapples, milk fudge, caramel, vanilla, honey and a trace of oak chips.
TASTE
mild, sweet breakfast cereal, apples, pears, bananas, lemon zest, honey, vanilla, nut nougat, traces of licorice and oak.
FINISH
medium-long, with notes of nut nougat, summer fruits, orange peel, vanilla and oak.

The success of the brand exceeded the expectations of the creators, in 2015 Drinks International magazine recognized Monkey Shoulder as the most ordered brand in bars. Two years later, "heeding the suggestions of bartenders around the world," Wm Grant & Sons developed the formula for Smokey Monkey, a smoky peat version of Monkey Shoulder. An additional component is whisky distilled from malted barley with peat sourced from the Highlands (we're guessing Ailsa Bay single malt) and aged in fresh bourbon barrels. Smokey Monkey was originally available in select bars in France and the UK.
Aroma
peat and sweet smoke, barley malt, vanilla, toffee, peaches, oranges, baked apples and a trace of oak.
TASTE
fruity, slightly smoky, apples, pears, oranges, vanilla, honey, milk fudge, walnuts, milk chocolate and a hint of cinnamon.
FINISH
medium-long, with notes of sweet chocolate, vanilla, cappuccino, citrus, smoke and ash.
