For nearly half a century, Maker's Mark Distillery proudly referred to itself as the "One Bourbon Company," and even in the new century, Bill Samuels Jr., son of the company's founder, stayed true to the original formula. It wasn't until around 2005 that he began a series of experiments, of which trial #46 received his approval. After the basic maturation, the standard Maker's Mark leaves the barrel, in which 10 roasted French oak staves are installed.
