Macallan Tales

Tales of Macallan Volume I / 44.6%

Tales of Macallan ('Macalln Tales') is an extraordinary new series telling the story of the pioneers of the iconic brand and their whisky-making legacy. The first edition presented here, The Laird of Elchies (1659-17150) pays tribute to Captain John Grant (the Grants owned the estate on which Macallan distillery is located since 1543). Captain Grant transformed the somewhat feral surroundings into "Elchies Gardens" and renovated and expanded Easter Elchies House, today's spiritual home of Macallan. The whisky dedicated to John Grant, distilled in 1950 and bottled in 2021, is the creation of Sarah Burgess, responsible for producing Macallan. The liquor fills a Lalique crystal decanter, which rests in an 800-page almanac. The following chapters of the book tell the story of Captain Grant and are decorated with beautiful illustrations by Andrew Davidson. The edition counts 350 decanters. (Tasting note by Sarah Burgess.)
