Laphroaig Select is the distillery's offering, incorporated into the core range in 2014.

Its name refers to the barrel selection process. It all starts with a traditional distillate aged in bourbon barrels, which is poured into virgin American oak barrels (never used for aging bourbons). They will rest in the warmest areas of the lounging warehouse for the warmest few months of the year. Their contents will later be blended with distillates from quarter casks, ex-Oloroso sherry butts and Pedro Ximénez sherry seasoned hogshead casks. The range of barrels used in the process translated into six flavor profiles, which were tested by members of the "Friends of Laphroaig". The winner was... Select!
