Glenlivet

The Glenlivet 12-year Illicit Still / 48%
The Glenlivet 12 years old rather needs no introduction, it debuted in 1933 in the States just after the repeal of Prohibition and remains one of the most popular single malts of all time. The Ilicit Still version presented here harks back to the distillery's early history. The Glenlivet was the first licensed Scottish distillery (1824), but its owner George Smith produced whisky and traded it much earlier taking advantage of its location in a complete remote area. The Glenlivet Illicit Stills launches "The Original Stories" series consisting of limited annual editions relating to the distillery's colorful history. Whisky aged for at least 12 years is bottled without cold filtration and with alcohol content raised to 48%.

The Glenlivet 15 Year Old
French Oak Reserve / 40%
When Pernod Ricard and Diageo acquired the assets of Seagram Spirit & Wine in 2001, the French were given the conglomerate's Scottish distilleries.
Glenlivet remained under the management of Chivas Bros (wholly owned by Seagram) and the 12-year old French Oak Finish had been in the basic commercial offer for a year. In 2004, Pernod Ricard introduced a 15-year-old version to replace it, French Oak Reserve. While the 12-year-old was a whisky aged in bourbon barrels and finished in casks made of French oak, the successor was only part (approx. 35%) of the distillates finish in the aforementioned casks. Limousine oak variety is native to the Dordogne district and is commonly used for maturation of cognacs.
Aroma
rich, creamy, vanilla, caramel, green grapes, apples, grapefruits, traces of pepper and cinnamon, pine resin and cedar raindrops
TASTE
mild, fruity, apples, pears, vanilla, crème brûlée, hazelnuts, a pinch of nutmeg and oak notes in the background
FINISH
long, oaky and spicy with noticeable nutty notes

SEEThe Glenlivet 18-Year-Old
Batch Reserve / 40%
Glenlivet Distillery began work in 1824, and even 190 years later, the whisky there dethroned the long-time sales leader, Glenfiddich.
In 2014, 12,768,000 bottles of Glenlivet found buyers, a 72% increase in five years. The 18-year-old version debuted in 1992 and remains in the basic range today. Approximately 15% of the distillate comes from fresh Oloroso sherry casks, the remainder from bourbon barrels and refillable casks. For many, this 18-year-old is the "perfect Glenlivet," with fruity tones in wonderful harmony with spices and oak bitterness.
Aroma
