Arrrrdbeg! is an honorary salute given to the captain of the iconic distillery to mark the end of his long career. Mickey Heads held the position of distillery manager from 2007 to 2020 and is instrumental in developing the Supernova, An Oa or Wee Beastie editions. During his tenure, Ardbeg won the title of "Distillery of the Year" three times at the International Whisky Competition, he himself in 2014 was awarded the honor of "Distillery Manager of the Year". Heads is also chairman of the "Ardbeg Committee" which today has a membership of over 120,000. members around the world and promised to remain so for another three years. Arrrrdbeg! is the first edition of this distillery aged exclusively in rye whiskey casks. It is also impossible to pass over the label by Brazilian graphic designer Butcher Billy depicting Captain Heads under a pirate flag, holding a bottle of Ardbeg and pointing to the next target. Aroma
bananas and pears wrapped in peaty smoke, fresh wholemeal, vanilla, toffee and a subtle hint of aniseed; a dash of water evokes lemons and limes, both in sorbet and sweet tart form.
TASTE
initial spiciness only heralds an eruption of fruity sweetness carried by melon and kiwi, followed by a wave of aniseed laced with subtle hints of smoky toffee and sourdough cookies.
FINISH
long, with notes of Brazilian nuts and peat smoke interwoven with ocean breath.
