Aberlour 14 Year Old Double Cask Matured / 40%

The core of the core offering has been for years the Aberlour Double Cask Matured series offered in 12, 16 and 18 year old versions. At the beginning of November 2020, the company announced the inclusion of a 14-year-old edition that "shows a new stage in the maturation progression of Aberlour single malt.". It features distillates aged in Oloroso sherry casks (American and European oak) and bourbon barrels. Whisky will be released in limited batches, Batch 001 will go on sale at Christmas 2020.

Aroma

brilliantly balanced, vanilla, honeycomb, ripe black cherries and plums, milk chocolate, hazelnuts and a hint of cinnamon.

TASTE

consistent with the aroma, black currants, cherries, blackberries, honey, caramel, roasted nuts and almonds, delicate notes of cinnamon and ginger.

FINISH

quite long, with notes of sweet ripe berries, honey, vanilla, a pinch of spice and oak.

Aberlour Distillery is an 1879 investment by James Fleming. Since 1974 it has been owned by Pernod Ricard (it was the first Scottish distillery to be taken over by the French conglomerate).

The plant is equipped with two pairs of alembics and can produce 3.8 million liters of distillate per year. Aberlour is experiencing a significant increase in sales, currently 4 million bottles a year, securing it the sixth position in the statistics of the best-selling single malts. Aberlour 12 years old has been in the core range since at least the late 1960s. last century, the Double Cask Matured version presented here is compiled from distillates aged in bourbon and sherry casks.

mild, caramel, vanilla honey, ripe apples and pears, dried plums, walnuts, traces of toasted oak and leather

TASTE

delicate notes of sherry, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, raisins, orange peel, hints of cinnamon and cloves

medium-long, warming, with notes of vanilla, caramel, cocoa, grapefruit, a pinch of pepper and oak

Aberlour 16 Year Old Double Cask / 40%

Aberlour 16 years old was added to the company's core offering in 2010. The distillates come from sherry (quite a few first-fill) and bourbon casks and were blended immediately before bottling.

Extended maturation has made the whisky's palette both delicate and beautifully balanced, making tasting an unforgettable experience. This whisky is bottled with an alcohol content of 40% and 43%. In 2012, Aberlour 16 won a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Current sales of the brand are 3.6 million bottles a year, placing it eighth among the most popular single malts.

rich and complex, dry rose petals, oranges, lemons, raisins, dried plums, cinnamon, nuts and light oak bitterness

beautiful balance of fruity sweetness, spices, oak and bitter almonds

It is the oldest offering in Aberlour's core range, and until 2008 was only available on the French market.

It is assembled from distillates aged in bourbon and sherry casks, which provides an excellent aromatic and flavor balance. This whisky is the undisputed leader in its category, as evidenced by the numerous medals, awards and prizes won in recent years.

Aroma

rich and full, milk chocolate, toffee, peaches, bitter oranges, notes of sherry and oak.

TASTE

rich and balanced, juicy apricots, cinnamon, nutmeg, traces of oak and etched leather.

FINISH

extremely long, crème brûlée and oak bitterness in the end.
