With annual sales of about 3.6 million bottles, Aberlour ranks eighth in the statistics of the most popular single malts. The core of the core offering has been for years the Aberlour Double Cask Matured series offered in 12, 16 and 18 year old versions. At the beginning of November 2020, the company announced the inclusion of a 14-year-old edition that "shows a new stage in the maturation progression of Aberlour single malt.". It features distillates aged in Oloroso sherry casks (American and European oak) and bourbon barrels. Whisky will be released in limited batches.
AROMAT
brilliantly balanced, vanilla, honeycomb, ripe black cherries and plums, milk chocolate, hazelnuts and a hint of cinnamon.
TASTE
consistent with the aroma, black currants, cherries, blackberries, honey, caramel, roasted nuts and almonds, delicate notes of cinnamon and ginger.
FINISH
quite long, with notes of sweet ripe berries, honey, vanilla, a pinch of spice and oak.
