Chichibu, the first Japanese distillery to open in the 21st century, was invested by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of Hanyu Distillery, which operated from 1946 to 2000.
Chichibu has been working since 2008 and has won all the prestigious awards and accolades in a decade; In 2019, Ichiro Akuto was awarded the title of "Master Distiller of the Year" in the International Spirit Challenge. In April 2018, Akuto began building the Chichibu 2 Distillery, which first distilled in July 2019. The Ichiro's Malt & Grain presented here is a creation described by the creator as a "World Blended Whisky". Alongside his own single malt, the formula uses Scotch, Canadian, Irish and American whiskies. They are aged in their countries of origin for three to five years and an additional one to three years in Chichibu's warehouses.
Aroma : vanilla cream, milk fudge, sweet cereals, apricots, nectarines, pears, apples, sponge cake and cappuccino.
Palate: vanilla, toffee, honey, banana cake, oranges, nectarines, traces of white pepper and candied ginger, lemongrass and a hint of tobacco.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, honey, tropical fruits, a touch of ginger and oak.
