Trail's End Bourbon is a product of Hood River Distillers, a company founded in 1934 in Oregon, which holds the state's first license to produce and sell alcoholic beverages (DSP-OR-1).
Trial's End debuted in 2015 and won a double gold medal the following year at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It is a blend of 7- and 8-year-old bourbons from an undisclosed Kentucky distillery (or undisclosed distilleries), finished in Oregon oak barrels. In 2014, Hood River Distillers acquired Clear Creek Distillery in Portland, Oregon, producer of McCarthy's single malt aged in these barrels.
Nose : nutty-floral, orange blossom, hay, apricots, hazelnuts, milk chocolate, vanilla, breakfast cereals, toffee, mint leaf and oak.
Palate: roasted nuts, crème brûlée, toffee, vanilla, cocoa powder, baked plantain, notes of nutmeg and tobacco.
Finish: medium long, quite spicy, allspice, nutmeg, cocoa, caramel and some dried fruit.
